Early Education Place for 2 Year Olds

Up to 15 hours per week of Early Education is available for some 2 year olds depending on their circumstances (maximum 570 hours per year).

Parent/carers must live in Wandsworth and be in receipt of at least one of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Income related Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Child Tax Credit and/or Working Tax Credit and have an income of less that £16,190
  • Working Tax Credit run-on, which is paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax credit.
  • Universal Credit
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit

You may also be eligible if your child:

  • Has a current Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan
  • Is entitled to Disability Living Allowance
  • Has been in local authority care for one day or more in England or Wales
  • Has been adopted from care in England or Wales
  • Has left care under a Special Guardianship Order of a Residence Order in England or wales.

To apply for a 2 year old place based on the benefits you receive you will need your National Insurance number (NI) or your National Asylum Seekers Support number (NASS) when completing the application.

If your child has been in local authority care or adopted from local authority care you will need to forward evidence, i.e. a court order to the EECP team.

If your child has a Statement of Educational Needs (SEN) or an Education, Health or Care Plan (EHC) you may be required to provide evidence of this.
